How warm is it in Japan during August?
August is typically the hottest month in Japan. The temperature hits about 28℃ during the day, falling away to a balmy 17℃ at night. Of course, the high humidity will make it feel even hotter. The UV index will be moderate at this time of year, so not something to worry about for the average person. However, if you're going to be outside for long periods it's worth wearing a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and UV-blocking sunglasses. Remember that bright surfaces, such as water and sand increase UV exposure.
Does it rain in Japan during August?
On average, there will be 10 rainy days during the month, amounting to 235.3mm in total. That's a lot of rain. For comparison, the wettest months in the UK typically sees between 80mm and 100mm, depending on where you are. Due to the high temperature and humidity, you might expect lots of thunderstorms, however they're actually fairly infrequent at this time of year. On average, August will see just 1 days that produce a storm.
Is it windy in Japan during August?
No - there is very light air movement in August so conditions should be calm with light breezes at times.
